$1.79. That is how much I paid for gas yesterday. Since my tank was 3/4 of the way full, I didn't really need gas, I just bought it on principle. If you did the same thing, then you may already realize that you are paying about $2.30 less per gallon than you did in July when gasoline spiked to around $4.13 a gallon (at least in my area). I drive a 2007 Nissan Sentra and I probably get better milage than most cars on the road–PLUS–I don't even drive that much. The question is, if I'm saving about $50 a month in fuel costs, how much are other people saving? What do you plan to do with your savings? Share your comments below.

I used to drive 115 miles round trip into Indy for work. Now I live in Indy. The lower miles are great, even when prices are high but even better when low. That extra money right now goes to other bills. I had the best price at kroger with a 10cent discount, the gas was $1.45.

I am saving at least $70-$100 per month myself depending on how much driving I do that month. However on a household level, it easily doubles to $150-$200 a month in savings.

Even with the lower prices, we're continuing to drive less. Our savings on gas costs are being rolled over to pay off our existing debt load.

I lived in Chicago for 5 years and didn't even own a car, so I didn't really pay much attention to gas prices from 1999-2004. I'll never forget when I moved back to Indiana and bought a new car. Gasoline was $1.46 a gallon. Back then, I thought THAT was high. I was wrong–REALLY wrong.
